Preparing for your body mapping

The examination at a glance

The Institute is one of the few centres in the Île-de-France region equipped with the Vectra WB360, with the examination performed and interpreted by dermatologists. The imaging booth combines 92 cameras that photograph the entire skin surface in a single capture and create a three-dimensional avatar. Each mole can then be located, measured and compared from one visit to the next.

Body mapping is part of a screening consultation: the dermatologist reviews the images, analyses the lesions and decides on the next steps.

How the examination works

1. Discussion with the dermatologist

   The dermatologist reviews your personal and family history, your current treatments and any lesions that concern you.

2. Image capture

   Wearing your underwear, you stand in the booth in the position you are shown. Image capture takes a few minutes: the cameras photograph the skin surface simultaneously and the 3D avatar is reconstructed.

3. Dermoscopy of selected lesions

   The dermatologist reviews the avatar, identifies the lesions that warrant closer analysis and examines them with digital dermoscopy. Close-up images are linked to their location on the avatar.

4. Report

   The dermatologist explains the findings and gives you a report. If a lesion requires further tests or a procedure, they will tell you and discuss it with you.

5. Comparison at the next visit

   The images are kept in your medical record. At your follow-up visit, a new capture allows each lesion to be compared and any new or changing lesion to be identified. The dermatologist sets the follow-up schedule according to your situation.

What to prepare

On the day

• No body make-up, self-tanner or cream (moisturiser or sunscreen) on your body on the day: they can interfere with the images.
• Hair tied back, so that the neck, ears and upper back are visible.

What to bring

• A list of your current medications and treatments.
• Previous dermatology reports, including test results for any lesions already removed.

If one lesion particularly worries you, point it out to the dermatologist at the start of the consultation.

Duration

The image capture itself takes only a few minutes. The secretariat will confirm the total length of the appointment when you book.

Sector 2 (fees above the national health insurance rate), indicative fees.

Good to know

Body mapping does not replace keeping an eye on your skin between visits. If a mole appears, changes or bleeds, do not wait for your next check-up: an urgent consultation is available for suspicious lesions (€140).
